Summer Camps

Superheroes of Science

Discover your inner superhero as we fly like Superman at Windwerk indoor skydiving, get strong like the hulk with circuits and obstacle courses and discover the scientific theories behind real and fictional superheroes. Extract DNA and discover how mutations and differences cause us all to be unique. Take part in superhero self-defence, learn to shoot with a bow and arrow and discover gymnastics with Spiderman! Investigate the tensile strength of Spiderman`s web juice, make colour changing slime and create a storm in a bottle!

Electric Emma and the Spark Science team provide such a wonderful camp experience. Both our girls went this summer for a week to the Mission to Mars camp and absolutely loved it, and told us stories from the second they were picked up until the moment they fell asleep. They loved the variety of activities, and told us all about the cool things they learned about space, astronauts, the solar system (and building their own models with working lights!), coding robots, geodes, building rockets, slime, making parachutes, the field trip to the planetarium, and all the other sports and fun activities along the way. They really liked all of the instructors and enjoyed making new friendships that will hopefully continue outside of the camp as well.

Thank you so much Spark Science for making science so fun and so accessible!

Such an incredible camp! We've done three science camps now and our little seven year old raves about every one! She wakes up every morning excited to attend and has a spring in her step when I pick her up. The group leaders are supportive, friendly and reassuringly provide a daily breakdown of what the children have been doing throughout the day. Thank you to everyone from Spark Science. We're lucky to have you in Zurich, what an A-Team you all are.

My son attended a week long Spark Science camp this past summer and had an absolute blast. He was exposed to a lot of new concepts and ideas during the camp, which fueled his enthusiasm for science. Emma's passion for science and teaching children is clear. I overheard a girl tell her mother, at the end of the second day of camp, "this was the best day of my life!" Emma clearly went the extra mile to ensure her camp was an unforgettable experience for the children. I would send my son back in an instant.

Frequently Asked Questions

What`s for lunch?

Lunch at camp is fresh, healthy and delicious. We sit and eat together to enjoy our food. The menu includes pasta, pizza, fajitas, hot dogs and side salads. Everything is separate to help the fussy eaters amongst us. Vegetarian options available. We offer healthy snacks like fruits, veggies, eggs and yogurt as well as special treats like ice cream, cakes and croissants - after all that activity the treats are well deserved! On trip day we provide a balanced packed lunch complete for the day. We are a nut free camp although some food may contain traces of nuts. We regretfully cannot cater for vegan, kosher or severe allergies.

What is your refund policy?

The earlier you cancel the more money we can refund you minus processing fees.

What language is the camp led in?

Our camps are led in English. We do not teach English and so we highly recommend children have at least a basic level of English to get the most out of the week. Some of our teachers speak German and sometimes external providers speak German.

Most the children that attend our camps speak English and some speak both English and German.

How many children attend camp?

We have between 20-30 children at camp. We split the children into different groups for various activities. We find this number is a great number because everyone can find friends as well as children of a similar age to them.

Can I book individual days?

Our camp days build on prior learning each day. We pride ourselves in really getting to know each other throughout the week of camp and developing strong relationships where children feel safe and can learn to trust each other. We have found week long camps provide children the stability in which they can grow and learn.

We therefore do not open the camp up to offer single days.

What are the camp rules?

Our main priority is the safety and wellbeing of the children in our care. We promote kindness and respect for each other.

We do not allow disrespectful, unkind, unsafe or disruptive behaviour and if such behaviour occurs we will address it with the children and parent to ensure a positive experience for all.

We do not allow electronic devices, money, Pokémon cards, sweets / crisps or nuts.

Do you offer early and late care?

We are unable to offer early and late care. Please call us, we may be able to make an exception in certain cases but we are limited.

What`s the adult : child ratio?

We work on a maximum ratio of 1 adult to 7 children. We have 4 teachers working at camp and often assistants or interns helping out. We have a backup in case of teacher absence. This allows us to go on exciting day trips and ensures safety and care at all times. We are unable to offer one to one, specialist behavioural or special needs care.

What discounts do you offer?

Early booking code: “CAMPEARLY”

Sibling discount code: “CAMPSIBLING”

Early booking + Sibling discount: “CAMPEARLYSIBLING”

The codes are only valid for early bookings (3 months prior to camp date) and for families where 2 or more siblings book on the same camp together.

My child is 5, can they join?

The nature of our camp requires children to have a level of independence. We are unable to provide one on one care and so if you know you child gets very homesick, needs a lot of help using the bathroom or is very wary of groups this may not be the camp for them.

It helps when young children join with a friend or caring older sibling or if they know us and have perhaps attended an event with us before.

Please call discuss it with us prior to booking.
